About

I am an independent journalist working mostly in audio and sometimes in print. I'm drawn to stories about people, power, and politics.

Most recently, I worked at the Boston Globe, producing the podcast series "The Harvard Plan." In 2023-2024. Previously, I covered Trump legal matters for NPR and threats to democracy for ProPublica, where I co-reported the series "We Don't Talk About Leonard." In 2022, I co-hosted “Will Be Wild” about the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol (Pineapple Street Studios/Amazon Music/Wondery), which went to #1 in the Apple podcast store. Prior to that, I worked for two decades at WNYC Radio, where I co-hosted the duPont-Columbia award-winning podcast “Trump, Inc.” (a co-production with ProPublica.) I started my career at WNYC-New York Public Radio.

I have been a recipient of the Nieman Fellowship at Harvard, the Arthur F. Burns Fellowship from the ICFJ, and a DAAD Fellowship.

My work has been seen in The New Yorker, TIME, New York and The New York Daily News, and I have appeared on CBS, CNN, PBS and MSNBC. I am a trustee of Radio Catskill-WJFF.
